The Crown Chakra – Nourishing your Spirituality

Screen shot 2012-03-21 at 8.59.47 AMCONNECTING TO YOUR SPIRITUAL STRENGTH (excerpt from The Chakra Energy Diet)

Spiritual oneness is the goal of opening the Crown Chakra, the point of knowing and enlightenment. Many people feel let down by religious institutions and even god, lacking faith in a higher power or universal consciousness.

After my friend Julie died, all my energy centers were affected, but I recognized these emotional or mental issues commonly associated with the Crown Chakra – a feeling of aloneness, depression, and a loss of meaning. I prayed for Divine help and received a deep connection to universal love, to my friend, and a knowing that her spirit lived on.

The Seventh Chakra: The Crown Chakra is our highest energy center, located at the top of the head and extending above it about two inches. It represents liberation, humanitarianism, deep understanding, and spiritual growth, union with the higher self and the Divine.

Opening or balancing your Crown Chakra can bring a profound awakening, a connection to your spiritual nature as well as to cosmic consciousness.

Crown Chakra Healing Foods – Juicing, Purple/Pure Foods

Since the Crown Chakra is more spiritual than physical, it is not nourished with physical foods in the same way that they feed other chakras. The correlation between the Crown Chakra and food is to make it a spiritual experience, whether by purifying the body through fasting for religious reasons during Ramadan or Yom Kippur, giving up a special food for Lent, or adding prayer or grace before meals.

Affirmation or Grace before eating for the Crown Chakra:

“May this food bless and nourish my body and help support my spiritual purpose.”

Detoxifying JuiceDetoxification cleanses, such as juice fasting, can also benefit the Crown Chakra. I especially like juicing mangosteen, grown in Hawaii, with its luscious violet color, for a detoxifying cleanse. Mangosteen contains powerful antioxidants and immune system boosters called xanthones, natural chemical compounds which possess a variety of potent medicinal properties.

Substituting a juice for a meal once a day, or for 3 meals in one day will assist in cleansing and detoxifying the body and in opening the Crown Chakra. But check with a medical professional before attempting a longer juice fast if you have any metabolic or health issues.

Foods that are pure and unadulterated also help keep the Crown Chakra open and integrated with spirit, especially if you choose them with the intention of increasing the greater good. Pure foods include those organically grown without chemicals or genetic modification. For the Crown Chakra, you want to eat with a higher purpose in mind – for the good of all beings, and the good of the environment.

Crown Chakra Healing Activities

The Crown Chakra is connected to meditation and to prayer or devotion to a higher power. Prayer could mean anything from singing religious hymns or reciting formal prayers or psalms, to devotional chanting like kirtan.

Being in nature, breathing in sunlight and fresh air, will also energize the Crown Chakra. While in nature, do a nalu meditation, focusing on something beautiful – when you feel a sense of relaxation, it’s a good time to give thanks and pray for guidance from a higher power.

For yoga poses and a guided visualization that will assist in balancing the Crown Chakra, please see The Chakra Energy Diet.

Balance Your Chakras to Relieve Pain

“I read this book and another of Becca’s, checked out her website, viewed her video that follows this book. For the first time in 2 years, I am pain free. I am more at peace. THANKS!” ~ Amazon reviewer

“Do you know which of your chakras are out of balance? Becca Chopra’s new book starts with a very easy-to-understand explanation of the chakra energy centers in our bodies and how each one affects us differently – physically and emotionally. Then, she shares the “secret” healing technique described in her book, Chakra Secrets, and details how to use “Dynamind” to balance each of the seven chakras, removing any pain or dis-ease associated with each one…. As busy as I am, I know I can fit in a Toner for one of my chakras in just a few minutes each morning… setting myself up for a much better day ahead.” ~ Amazon reviewer

Thank you to these two reviewers who recognized the healing power offered by the Dynamind Process which I share in this book. I learned this technique from Serge Kahili King, Ph.D., a kupua healer and founder of Aloha International, during a Hawaii Health Getaway. With his help, I’ve applied the process to Chakra Healing.

Whether you experience pain, illness or stress, or just want to enhance your energy, you’ll want to learn and practice this simple, yet profound, technique.

According to the ancient Hawaiian Huna philosophy, stress plays a part in all illness. More and more, modern medical research links stress and illness to a wide range of maladies from high blood pressure and heart disease to chronic pain and obesity.

Of course, modern everyday life carries with it a grab bag of stress, but we just don’t want it to be chronic and as familiar as our favorite shoes. Personally, I use a variety of ways, including yoga and meditation, on a daily basis to relax my body and mind. But when I feel pain or illness or uncomfortable emotions such as fear or anger, I immediately use the “instant healing” Dynamind technique to release tension, restore my body’s innate self-healing abilities and allow my chakra energy to once again whirl strongly.

Just like regular exercise can keep one’s body and mind toned, using Dynamind Toners every day can keep your chakras and your body in balance. I’ve even produced a Balance & Tone Your Chakras DVD where you can follow along with me and strengthen your chakras so that your life can be the best it can be.

Anyone who purchases my books which explain the Dynamind process, Balance Your Chakras, Balance Your Life or Chakra Secrets can get a free link to the streaming video, now through the end of October, when the DVD will be available for sale.

Crystals for Chakra Balancing

Just like you carry a few everyday items in your purse, pocket or car, like cough drops to soothe your throat, lip gloss to protect and brighten your lips or gym shoes for your lunchtime walk, having a set of crystals can be very useful for clearing energy blockages and opening chakras.

They need not be fancy or showy and seem to work best when they are allowed to choose you. As proof that “everything” in this life is alive, aware and responsive, hold your hand over a few crystals and wait until one or more of them signals you that they are ready to become yours, to accompany you and to work with you by both absorbing and giving off energy.

Now, as the new guardian of your crystals and the recipient of their marvelous power, you have a responsibility to keep them clean and energized. First steep your new crystals overnight in a solution of sea salt and water and dry them thoroughly before you begin to use them.

Periodically, re-wash your crystals in the salt solution, or in rainwater and then re-energize them by exposing them to moon or sunlight for several hours. Take advantage of the healing energy of every full moon by leaving your crystals outside overnight.

Crystals can be simple, yet powerful tools when you’re seeking balance and a sense of well-being in your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self.

To aid in general stress relief, try placing three clear quartz crystals, points facing outward, in a triangle just below your navel. Next, place three rose quartz stones in an arc above your pubic bone and relax for 4-5 minutes. Repeat as often as is needed for optimal energy flow.

For a complete Chakra Balance, try this simple crystal layout to reinforce your chakra energies and ensure they are functioning well.

Choose a grounding stone (black, brown or dark red) to place between your feet. Then choose a stone or crystal corresponding to the different colors of the chakras, placing the red one between your knees, the orange right above your pelvic bone, the yellow right above your navel, the green over your heart center, the light blue on your throat, indigo or dark blue on your forehead and a violet or clear stone on the floor just above the top of your head. Lie down with these stones in place for a period of about 5 minutes or until you feel complete, then remove the stones starting with the one above your head.

Relax for a few more minutes, still lying down, then enjoy a sense a well-being and balance, ready to face the stresses of the day ahead.

Man in Tibet Melts Snow with his Body Heat!

A recent story chronicled an amazing feat by a Tibetan man. An observer noted that the man’s mental concentration was so acute that he could sit outdoors in deep snow, nude and melt the snow around his body.

At the Hindu monastery on Kauai, we were visited by a guru from India who could breathe through his eyes.

These extreme results of the practice of meditation can result in what may look like miracles. But we can all achieve miracles in our lives through meditation, more useful ones than melting snow or breathing through eyeballs. For example, meditation can reduce stress and anxiety, enhance motor reflexes, increase motor control, increase exercise tolerance, sharpen perceptions, increase awareness, improve concentration, maintain health, provide a general positive outlook on life, and foster the development of a sense of personal meaning in the world.

Scientific studies reveal that meditation produces a specific physiological response pattern that involves various biological systems: metabolic, autonomic, endocrine, neurological, and psychological. Studies on how these mechanisms are involved in producing the final pattern of responses continue. The answers are so complex, the physiological response to meditation probably occurs on a multidimensional, interactive basis.

But why wait? We know the benefits of meditation, if not all the hows and whys. You can experience the benefits through simple sitting meditation, clearing of the mind with a focus on your breath. Or quiet your busy “chattering mind” with a guided visualization. To try a guided visualization that you can listen to lying down, try this Chakra Meditation.

Breathing to Ecstasy – Use your Inner Flute to Empower you and your Partner

Proper breathing can help open channels in your body that will fuel and cleanse. By cycling this renewing energy into your partner, you may empower his or her as well as your union.

When you practice the following, picture your breath whirring past your spinning chakras, much like puffs of March wind power a child’s pin wheel.

If you have had one of those proverbial “hard days” or maybe would just like to prepare your body for lovemaking (either solitary or alone); sit or lie comfortably and inhale into your lower belly until it pooches out like Buddha’s. Do not worry how it may look – do it in the nude after your bubble bath, in your favorite nightie, with your sweetie at your side or painted in rainbow technicolor in your mind’s eye. To deeply connect to deep relaxation and to set your chakras whirring. press your inflated belly against your partner’s, squirm and mold yourself together or do it back to back. WARNING: the effects of this exercise can be profound, addictive and worthy of diary entry.

Hear me Roar – I am your healed Throat Chakra – Step #5

When I am balanced I sing out your love and praises for your partner, your world, your god(s) and goddess(es). If used unwisely to hurt, slander or hurl bitter words. I am no longer useful to send or receive fluent communication. Instead I create discomfort and dis-ease in the ears, nose, throat and lungs and promote sluggishness in thought, word and deed.

Know this; although your body may subsist about 12 days without water or 56 days without food, more than 3 minutes without air will probably snuff out all of life’s energy and I will go away permanently. Why heal me? You allow me to express your higher wisdom to others and to illuminate your past, present and future.
………….
Please stop by tomorrow and read my suggestions for healing an unbalanced Throat Chakra.

Love the Life you are Living by Healing your Heart Chakra

To be physically strong, capable of giving and receiving love and to be poised to develop spiritually, our Heart Chakras must be nourished and stroked – literally paid attention to like the plaintive cry of your child or the insistent mewing of your cat.

So, just as Barry, one of the characters in The Chakra Diaries did, we can start by surrounding that person in the mirror with green light, color therapy for the Heart Chakra. Like a rags-to-riches infomercial, results may vary, but just give it a try.

Another technique to boost your feelings of self-love is to re-visit those times in your childhood when you felt most loved, appreciated and supported and transport those feelings to the present, to right now! You CAN revel in those feelings again and carry them with you regardless of which purse you are packing. Feel them pump you up when you are down. Tweak and tune them, brand them as your own.

Now that we have you started on your merry way, how about some loving first aid for the other people in your life…

When someone else in your life is sad, try this warm and fuzzy exercise. Sit next to them and caress the tips of their hands. Notice the feelings that pop into your head. Stroke the back of their hand and then the palm. Which touch does your friend or lover respond most to?

When you have reached an end, shake off any unhappy energy toward the ground and ask your friend to repeat the process with you as the recipient.

Tomorrow, we will learn about ways to feed our heart when we are alone – sorry, no chocolate involved in this one. Please visit again.
